hi, im a huge fan of creamy overdrive tones. i know the guitar and the pickups are important,
but im experimenting with the best settings on my GT1. i simply want a smooth overdrive for enough headroom!
im a fan of this fat qotsa distorted sound, with not too much gain. so im open for changing the pre amp valves, but JJ and TungSol are the best till now.
so it might be the best to turn the amp up half and set the gain lower? maybe i should buy a good clean boost too,
like MXR and stuff. what i want is flexibility and the ability to use pedals better. the less driven the sound is, the better pedals sound.
so if you run the amp into its natural distortion with more gain, you have less headroom in my opionon, and less flexibility.
