I have been looking at the TC Nova stuff which seems pretty cool!
I would like an all singing delay...multi taps and all the works not analogue really.
And not the eventide either really as it seems a bit too expensive.
Cheers!

Reverb And Delay...Thoughts Please. |

So I have just received my lovely new King Street Classic head and 1x12 cab. Now I need a nice reverb pedal and a new delay pedal to go with it. Any
suggestions?

for delay i'd go for the EH Memory man Hazari, lots of options inc. Tap tempo and a Looper.
I don't really use reverb too much, i have a Quadraverb and a Nanoverb in my p.a rack, for the odd guitar moment i have a Hardwire reverb pedal, does it all! A word of caution though... i imagine you plan on using the fx loop on the amp? there's a strong chance it won't work due to an impedance missmatch. I've head some people say that rack stuff works... my quad and nano don't... in either KSM or FL... neither does the pedals. What happens is you loose volume and top end when the loop is used... if you simply put the delay in the front of the amp then use the amps drive things get messy as the delay gets distorted.. should be the other way around. I had the KSM modded with an extra valve to drive the fx loop. Another way around it is using an external 'buffer' type device like the dumbleator or two rock ELI http://www.two-rock.com/products/eli-1-and-2 |

Yeah Ive just been looking at that Memory man...and also the TC Nova stuff? One of my mates had a Pigtronix delay and that was amazing but far too expensive!
I'm quite liking the look of the holier grail as well or possibly the holiest as you can tailor the decay better. I have heard quite a bit about the way the loop works on these amps...I have already run a Marshall reflector pedal through the loop and a Boss pitchshifter/delay and I didn't really find them to be too troublesome to be honest? I know Jeff said to me the other day that you should use rack stuff through the loop really. At the moment I am only playing at bedroom levels so noise levels should be pretty low anyway. Thanks for the heads up though!any hints are always good! |

is it the same problem with the fx loop on the gt1?
im soon gonna buy a delay and reverb pedal. malekko d 600 and vanamp sole-mate spring reverb are focused. so i should not use too much drive with delay and reverb? |

it's the same with all matamps... the fx loop is a simple break between pre and power amp, completely unbuffered etc. Think most of us have got used to
variable loops on other companies amps

Ive just borrowed a mates Holy Grail and it sounds pretty cool to me!
I do notice that the amp does hum when the Grail and my Boss PS-2 are plugged into the loop, but again at bedroom level and as soon as you start playing you can not hear it anyway. I think I will probably buy a Memory Man cause they do seem really cool, and probably a Holier or Holiest Grail at some point but the borrowed Holy will serve me for now:) Ive been reading up on the TC Nova pedals and they have had some negative reviews, and the EH stuff does seem to sound a lot sweeter. |

what about a pedal with linebuffer like most boss? does it fix the unbuffered fx loop?
variable loops are too expensive. i could buy a new amp and cab for that...suxx |

I'm pretty sure that adding a buffered pedal sorts the issue, alteratively the factory can make a simple device to resolve the issue.
As for reverb & delay, I would also consider a G-major. Sure it's a rack, but the delays & verbs are great, and you should be able to pick one u cheap. Just make sure that the encoder wheels work right, or use a computer to edit the settings. |

none of my buffered boss/ibanez pedals sorts out the losses/impedance miss match. variable loops on other amps must me cheapish, fender marshall laney etc have
had them since the 80's... all opamp driven. A lot of the expensive outboard stuff is all valve though

Anyone seen this???
http://www.tonebone.com/re-bigshot-mix.htm Looks like it could be pretty interesting? Or this??? http://www.tonebone.com/re-bigshot-pb1.htm Also just found this http://www.fjamods.com/Buffer.html Surely a pedal like the one above could be built fairly easily?Providing it does what we need it to?

I emailed shure who distribute them in the UK, this is the reply I got
The Bigshot MIX does have a large buffer, so inserting this into your effects loop may well solve your noise problem. As you wondered though, I believe it would be better to use the MIX earlier in the signal chain, i.e., before the signal even reaches the amp, as this is how it's designed to be used. As for things getting messy, you can control the amount of signal that gets sent through the effects pedals when the loop is engaged, hopefully clearing up your signal. It does sound like it might be the answer? Although I removed the Boss PS-2 from my loop and left the Holy Grail in and the sound was much cleaner! Seems like my PS-2 is a noisy pedal anyway, but even with it in the level of noise I'm getting is totally acceptable to me. So I'm just gonna carry on without anything else at the moment. |

I recently got a Big Shot Mix as the FX loop in my GT2 kinda sucks. Not a bad pedal but i found if i used at at the end of the pedal chain (I.E. after all my
distortion/fuzz fx), it was pretty noisy. I got what sounded like a loop hum.
I haven't tried putting it earlier in the chain yet but will def give it a go this weekend. As to delays and reverbs, i really like the Dr Scientist Reverberator and Sunny Day Delay pedals. I use one of each and a chorus on the FX loop of the Big Shot Mix. Definitely worth a look. |

I've got the digitech RV-7 hardwire and the new Timebender on loan at the moment. Both are really nice pedals! The features on the timebender are crazy!
Both are pretty quiet through the fx loop on my amp.

The spring setting on the RV7 is pretty dam close to the lush verb on my Twin

Actually I set the RV-7 to the spring setting and have left it like that, I do like the spring setting...it even 'boings'.
As for the Timebender...I called the rep today and told him I didn't want it. It's a nice delay but it's probably got too much on it and it doesn't turn on and off instantly which is odd! I asked him to send me the hardwire delay instead. I have already tried that and thought it was pretty nice. |

MY Boss RV2 works really nicely with my KSC, even in the loop.

did anyone here solve the problem with the matamp fx loop?
