Little Rock / Minimat 2 |

Alrighty. Has anyone tried or have both the Little Rock and Minimat 2? I've tried the Little rock and thought it was superb but thinking about getting the
minimat 2 if it is similar sounding.

Was there much difference between the two and if so, in what ways? Cheers

The drive on the MM2 was more classic rock, which i liked. Both clean sounds were similar. I have a minimat 1 and love the simple layout of volume and tone, so
the MM2 appealed for that reason too

I have a Minimat Combo & 2 Little Rocks (a combo & a head) and am a big big fan of the Little Rock. For recording you really can't beat it, truly
brilliant with pedals (if that's your thing), more versatile than the Minimat, the preamp drive is fabulous and all at a controllable volume and at a gig
with a mic in front of it, it's great. It's not particularly polite, but it's a very real sounding amp.

Cheers for the info DiscAl. I ended up picking up a Lilttle Rock. Awesome amp. I have one of those Blackstar HT-5's and the Little rock makes that sound
dreadfull in comparison. Do you find any adnvantage in having the Minimat aswell as the Little Rock? I'm tempted to sell the HT-5 and get a Minimat II
instead or maybe a first lady. Cheers

If you wanted to get a Minimat to go with the Littlerock, maybe go with the EL84 version, as the 6V6 version will sound somewhere near the Littlerock. I agree
with Pete24v, the First Lady or the C7 is fantastic. I got into Matamps on the strength of a C7, it's still one of my favouriote recording amps, in fact
I'm getting Jeff & Hayden to make me a combo based on the C7. It's a slippery road getting into Matamps....

From what i can gather the main 2 differences between the C7 and FL are Voice control and 2 octal sockets selected via a switch on the FL.. I really like
having the 2 valve sockets, means you don't have to keep pulling valves out to get different cranked tones. Just keep your favourite 2 in there.

decided since its the end of the month and I just go paid that I'm gonna get a slightly more powerful matamp to go with the little rock. Looking at the
First lady and the king st major. I like the fact that with the KSM you can bump it upto 50w. Pete24V, I read somewhere else that you have both of these amps.
What are your thoughts? I know it would be best to head down to Yorkshire but its a fair way from Scotland so think I'm just gonna risk it and go for one
of the too. Surely I can't go too far wrong as they're both matamps after all!

FL and KSM, both totally different beasts.
the FL is great for small rehearsals, recording and small gigs where you don't need a clean sound. It's only 7 watts, and thats not enough to play clean with a drummer. The tone when you drive it is awesome, think early EVH rhythm. The draw back is there is no headroom for boosting volume for solos... The KSM is different totally. You have switchable drive, and a 2nd switchable master volume.... which will give you clean + louder clean, drive + louder drive. Then there's the 15w/50w it's quite rare that i'll use the 15w side as i don't like hitting the max of the amp, it collapses and you loose the headroom and definition. But thats just me! Hope that helps, i'm in leicester if your ever in the area and want to try them out. |

you reckon they'd be able make a custom first lady with the ability to change from 7w/15w/30w like the new orange dual terror?
