Fane Pop 50s: Any good?

God a pair of those and a pair of Goodmans in a cab, don't really do what I want (since I'm a bassist, and my guitarists want Vintage 30s in everything), are these known as useful? Anyone after them Should I strip them out or sell the cab as a whole?

guys what the hell are these old fanes doing in an orange cab the other two drivers are greenbacks by the look of it but if anyone is interested in these then get in touch before they go on ebay.

Volume pedals - any Suggestions?

Hey there,

I have been looking into getting a volume pedal for swells and fading in/out.

Having looked at reviews on Harmony Central etc, it seems like a mine field - many Volume pedals seem to be guilty of sucking the tone big time. And many users of the Boss FV500 models recommend using it in the effects loop - I don't have one in my Minimat or Littlerock

Also Boss recommend Hi or Low Impedence...

Vintage G15C Question

Anyone happen to know if Celestion G15C's of the '60s era used two differently rated voice coils on the 15 Ohm marked ones?

I see the ones in my late '60s Orange Matamp 2x15 cabs are rated 50 watts and 15 Ohms but I also see some other same era G15C's rated 35 watts...same cone numbers, same Ohms, same frequency response rating, identical labels (except for watts,) etc.

The reason I ask is that some of mine seem to have the 50 watt ratings as tiny stickers...

Hi there I own a Kingstreet combo.

Just wondered what overdrive pedals and or boost pedals peple may suggest would work well with this amp.
Not looking to hear about what ace pedals you have but good buying advice for something that would work in harmony with my gear. For the record I play a strat loaded with seymour duncan humbuckers.

Speaker opinions - Matamp GTV-TC

So I have this GTV-TC - and it's awesome. Been playing it through a Sunn 412 with GT12-75's.

I also have these 2 Sunn 412SR cabs (the vertical 412 towers) that need speakers. Well, I have 4 good original Sunn 40w speakers. Now I need 4 more - 2 for the bottoms of each cab - so the bottom 412, essesntially.

I have posted on some other forums I check out for opinions.. just wanted to see what you all thought. I am thinking of getting 4 vintage 30's - so...

Anyone found any nice pedals that sound good with your Matamps? I've used some gear that sounds pretty good on say a Marshall JCM800 but sounds like crap with my Mat and Orange heads. Also, as i've got a soft spot for nice boutique pedals, i'm interested what your floor set up is like. Cheers!

Matamp 2x12 for Bass?

I have an unexpected Bass gig coming up. I will need a head & cab, but I'm not ready to spend big bucks on a rig yet, so I'm thinking of buying a used solid state head, and I'm wondering if I could use my 2x12 (or 4x12) successfully if I change out the drivers.

Will it work OK? What drivers would be suitable?

Reverb And Delay...Thoughts Please.

So I have just received my lovely new King Street Classic head and 1x12 cab. Now I need a nice reverb pedal and a new delay pedal to go with it. Any suggestions?
I have been looking at the TC Nova stuff which seems pretty cool!
I would like an all singing delay...multi taps and all the works not analogue really.
And not the eventide either really as it seems a bit too expensive.

Phase inverter tubes

I'm currently re-tubing my amps. Specifically my GT1 (4xEL34, 3xECC83S) and Minimat II (1x6V6, 2xECC83S). Questions got messy, so I'll line them up.

What's a balanced phase inverter tube? Is it really necessary, or more of an audiophile thing for stuff that I wouldn't notice anyway?

Which positions are the phase inverters in those amps? I think it's usually the last socket (from the left, i.e. the socket most to the right) when looking inside the amp...

1224 MK6 Swapping out tubes.

I've taken a look at past threads on this subject, but most are for the MKII and none are for the MK6.
It is my understanding that some things changed in regard the auto biasing of the amps at some point.
Right now i have EL34's in the amp.
I'm thinking it might be cool to run 6L6's in it.
Does any one know, is this a straight swap in my MK6?

Treble Boosters

Anybody use them?
I often use the neck pickup on my Les Paul for solos, but with my cry baby wah on almost full treble to give it loads of bite. I love that sound. I've always been curious would a treble boost pedal sound better/worse/plain old different!
Anyway my mate rang me last night and told me he's building a Range Master clone for me - just curious does anyone use them?
