GT "Retro" - Tone

Does anyone out there have one of the current "GT Retro" amps?

Looking for either sound clips, or a specific description of what these nasty little puppies sound like.

Not so much "sounds great"..... rather get actual blow by blow description of clean, cranked and overall
characteristics. Volume level at which breakup occurs, sounds doom vs clean-and-punchy vs midrange-woody or something
in between etc.

Hi (first post here)!

I'm feeling GAS :-) ...I'm interessted in the GT 200 Bass amp.

What is your experience regarding the volume and overdrive level?

I'm a little afraid that this amp could have too much clean headroom for me.

I'm searching for an overdriven sound, atm mainly for volume-range for band rehearsals - and small gigs (rock music).

I read here that it's possible to customize / tweak the amp for less headroom by...

Hi.
I'm new to matamp and was tipped off by a friend from the UK. I have never played anything from matamp so this post is more or less a try to gather more info.

I want a really clean amp, either a combo or a head + 1x12" cab. I use a fender strat with more treble and bass than mid.

GT4 vs Little Rock?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what the difference is between the Little Rock and the GT4?

I was looking at some of the archive posts and noticed that the GT4 has 1x 6v6 power valve and 2x 12AX7 pre-amp valves which is the same as the Little Rock. Is the GT4 point to point? I know the LR is PCB and not turret or tagboard...They seem about the same chasis size too....

How to use the DI out feature?

Hi lads. I've started jamming and recording some stuff with a mate, just for fun. The next step is to treat myself to a good interface and something like Abelton so I can record at home with the lap-top.

I've never used the DI out feature on my amp (1224mkII) - is it possible to hook the head up to an interface using the DI for home recording? I really dont know if it's meant for that or for just plugging straight into a PA?

The other thing is will I damage...

1224 GT noise

Before I contact Jeff can anyone help with this. I have a 1224 MK2 which has been modified the GT specs (I believe it was the original 1224 GT). Amazing amp - best I\ve ever owned or played but the last few weeks there has been quite a buzz from it at idle. It much worse in Pentode mode obviously but I just don't remember it being there before but when you use something all the time you just get used it and I'm questioning whether it was there before - I don't think it was and...

Hi I'm looking into PA options for my band. I see matamp slave heads popping up on ebay every now and then, and I'd much rather have decent matamp gear than throwaway Jap stuff! Talking about numbers seems a bit pointless often, as there are so many variables but does anyone have any idea how many real (matamp) watts are needed to get the equivalent of a 1k rig? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Been a huge fan of Matamp guitar gear for years, having owned a S2000 and 1224 and...

Sound difference between GT 120 with Master and GTL 120 produced 2005

Hello all,

I was wondering what the sound difference was between a GT 120 (with a master) and a GTL 120? I know the GT does not have a mid knob but does the presence handle any of the low mid duties in its place? Please enlighten.

Bass 200

I havent been able to find this anywhere that I can remember so I'll ask.....is the GT200 amp made on two chassis, pre and power? I.e. the original 200's? or a one piece deal.

matamp gt1 too dark with some guitars

i have an issue with my matamp. some guitars simply sound too dark. i cant play cleaner or less overdriven tone without mud;

so i get a more dull and lifeless sound. most les paul style guitars sound too dark too. depens a lot on the pickups?

but in some amps, the same guitar did cut through better. i use two v30's. ive heared they are dark speakers... could other speakers help?

any suggestions? i want more cleans and overdrive without mud.

After a long while, I am back again! :-) I have begun supplementing my guitaring with the playing of keyboards. Thus, I now own a Clavia Nord C1 organ*, which I am learning to play. However, being at heart a guitarist I am dissatisfied with the built-in drive, and was wondering if it were possible for Matamp to customize an amp and cab for the purpose of keys? Since the organ works in stereo, a stereo rig would be the ultimate solution. But running the two organ outputs together...

matamp gt1 bias

hi folks,

how to bias the gt1?
i have the gt1 biased around 35mA. its okay, but kinda distorts very early.
if id like to have a bit less distortion by the power tubes, should i run it colder?
i guess, now its a bit over the top or too hot?

GT1 VOID and the quest for the sound

I recieve my GT1 yesterday. With shaken hands I opened the box and revealed the VOID. I was pleased with the look of it. Very impressive. Well, the faceplate wasn't installed as well as it should be. The holes in the faceplate weren't in the same place as in the amp, causing the faceplate to bend and almost crack near the holes. I assume that I will get a new faceplate without the holes and then I'll drill the holes exactly to right places. This...

MATAMP Bass 200

In the past I had several gigs with "Bad Cat Boogie" (www.badcatboogie.de). Yes of course, I used my new MATAMP Bass gear (Bass 200 head and 4x10")! On every stage, as well open air, it soundet great and it was loud enough. Thank you again Jeff for that good job you and all of MATAMP have done. Well done!
